Soccer Game Preview: Troy vs. Sonora

The Troy Warriors will face off against the Sonora Raiders at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Troy's last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Troy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Esperanza 1-0. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Aztecs are ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sonora and Cypress finished up their contest with a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.

Sonora's draw makes their record 9-3-4 this season. As for Troy, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 9-3-4.

Troy was able to grind out a solid win over Sonora when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Troy repeat their success, or does Sonora have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
