Baseball Recap: Lexington Catholic Victorious

Lexington Catholic posted their closest win since May 16, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past the St. Xavier Tigers 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Cody Decker was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Decker was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Jenkins, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Jack White also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Lexington Catholic's record is now 3-1-1. As for St. Xavier, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Lexington Catholic will square off against Greenup County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenup County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lexington Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Xavier, they are taking a road trip to face off against Paul Laurence Dunbar at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
