Volleyball Recap: Paloma Valley Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

Paloma Valley had won three straight road games and Jayden Estrella did his part to make it four on Wednesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 win over the Liberty Bison thanks in part to Estrella, who had five digs and three aces. He has been hot recently, having also posted 15 or more assists the last four times he's played.

Paloma Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-17, 25-21, 29-27.

Liberty's loss came despite strong showings from Ashtyn Collier and Tyler Guardado. Collier had 31 assists and six digs, while Guardado had three digs and three blocks. Jeremy Mallabo was another key player, getting 19 digs.

Paloma Valley is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Liberty, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 22-10 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Paloma Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Hemet at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Liberty will take on rival Valley View at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
