Preview: Northeast Eagles vs. Chesapeake Cougars

Northeast has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Chesapeake Cougars at TBD on Friday. Northeast comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northeast had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past South River 10-7. The win was just what Northeast needed coming off of a 28-0 loss in their prior game.

Meanwhile, Chesapeake had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over Chopticon. The result was nothing new for Chesapeake, who have now won four matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.

Chesapeake relied on the efforts of Keller Herzberger, who threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and Sean Carroll, who gained 110 total yards and three touchdowns. Isaak Sears also helped out with an impressive 112 receiving yards.

Their wins bumped Northeast to 7-3 and Chesapeake to 8-2.

Northeast came up short against Chesapeake when the teams last played back in October, falling 21-14. Can Northeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
