Flag Football Recap: Gia Klauer Key Part of Team Effort in Fillies/Broncos Win

Barrington had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 36-28 victory over the Conant Cougars on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Fillies/Broncos needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Barrington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gia Klauer, who rushed for 171 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 189 yards and one TD while completing 72.7% of her passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns Klauer has posted since back in September. Alex Ryder was in the mix too, providing Barrington with two touchdowns.

Barrington didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Conant to a completion percentage of just 46.4%. The team can thank Caley Skidmore for the heroic effort on defense: she. Barrington has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.

Barrington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Hayden Bern, Hailey Donovan, and Skidmore picked up one apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Conant lost, don't look at Arianna Dugo. Despite the final result, she rushed for 227 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns. Dugo's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked her ninth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards. Conant's leading receiver Annabel Danso was Dugo's top target yet again, picking up 150 receiving yards and three scores.

Barrington's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Conant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Coming up, Barrington will head out on the road to take on Libertyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Fillies/Broncos 14.4, the Wildcats 11.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Conant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
