Baseball Recap: American Fork Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but American Fork unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lehi Pioneers by a score of 8-7. The Cavemen were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pioneers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Kenny Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Jones led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Gavin Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

American Fork's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Lehi, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

While American Fork had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
