Softball Recap: Deer Valley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Deer Valley came into Tuesday's contest having lost 21 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 22-4 margin over the Ygnacio Valley Wolves on Tuesday.

Katalina Rogel made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Rogel was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Deer Valley let Braelyn Valdez and Lysette Marcial run wild. Valdez scored four runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Marcial scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Marcial a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Mariah Velasco-Basulto, who scored two runs and stole Three bases.

The victory got Deer Valley back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Valley will challenge Washington at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ygnacio Valley will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Making Waves Academy at 4:30 p.m. on March 14th.
