Central hadn't done well against West Elk recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Patriots. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Central had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 8-25, 25-11, 25-18.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for West Elk, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Central will challenge rival Sedan on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Elk is set to square off against their familiar foe South Haven on Tuesday.
