Recap: Mt. Carmel Golden Aces vs. Lawrenceville Indians
The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces lost against the Lawrenceville Indians back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mt. Carmel suffered a rough 55-32 defeat at the hands of Lawrenceville. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Lawrenceville is ranked 64th).
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Connor Shelby, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
Bryant Jenkins was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds for Lawrenceville. The contest was Jenkins' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Parker Hardiman, who scored 9 points.
Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lawrenceville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will challenge Mt. Vernon at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Vernon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Lawrenceville, they will head out on the road to face off against Martinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
