Basketball Recap: West Bolivar Comes Up Short

West Bolivar extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were beaten by the Houston Hilltoppers 74-39. The Eagles lost against the Hilltoppers in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-41 score last time.

As for Houston, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points over those games.

Kase Brooks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 53% from the field to rack up 21 points. He has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Antavious Hill was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Looking ahead, West Bolivar will host Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.14 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Houston, they will head out on the road to square off against Bruce at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
