The North Moore Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Seaforth Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Moore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for North Moore's offense. They came up short against Chatham Central on Thursday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Seaforth hadn't done well against Jordan-Matthews recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hawks came out on top against the Jets by a score of 9-4.
Emma Grace Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Seaforth got a massive performance out of Abigail Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Annika Johansson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Seaforth has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for North Moore, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Moore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Seaforth struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Moore suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Seaforth in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
