Volleyball Recap: Evansville Reitz Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Evansville Reitz faced off against Evansville Mater Dei on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-16.

REESE PARSONS paced Evansville Reitz's offense, picking up ten kills. PARSONS got some help from KIERSTYN KAISER and her 13 assists. Finally, KAISER was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Leading Evansville Mater Dei to victory were Emily Kiesel and Caroline Schultheis. Kiesel had ten digs and three aces, while Schultheis had ten digs and two aces. What's more, Schultheis posted four assists, the most she's had over her last six contests. Addison Boots also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Evansville Reitz's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Evansville Mater Dei, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Looking ahead, Evansville Reitz will take on Gibson Southern in a tournament on Saturday. As for Evansville Mater Dei, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Jasper at 6:00 p.m.
