Powell County came out on top against Paul Laurence Dunbar on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run first inning. The Pirates put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 16-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Powell County got a massive performance out of Madison Kincaid, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Kincaid has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brilee McIntosh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Powell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Powell County's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Powell County will host Holmes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.36 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bourbon County at 2:00 p.m.
