Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Ida B. Wells' Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Ida B. Wells won the last time they faced Cleveland and things went their way on Friday too. The Guardians put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 8-2 win. The Guardians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Grae Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Ida B. Wells let Cam Hammer and Ramsey Prentice run wild. Hammer went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Prentice went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Prentice has posted since back in March.

Ida B. Wells is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cleveland, they moved to 7-9 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Ida B. Wells will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
