Basketball Game Preview: Union Cougars vs. Richfield Wildcats

Union is 0-7 against Richfield since December of 2018 but things could change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Thursday, Union came up short against South Summit and fell 48-38.

Meanwhile, Richfield ended up a good deal behind Canyon View on Thursday and lost 57-43.

Union will have to contain Abbee Albrecht as she made an impact in Richfield's last game. She went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points and eight boards. Albrecht has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Lilly Crane was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Richfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11.

Union suffered a grim 51-30 defeat to Richfield when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Union avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
