Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Vista Golden Eagles vs. Loveland Red Wolves

The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will challenge the Loveland Red Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 games -- so hopefully Loveland likes a good challenge.

Mountain Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Chaparral, who was ranked third at the time (Mountain Vista was ranked sixth). Mountain Vista came out on top against Chaparral by a score of 82-72 on Friday. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cal Baskind, who posted 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Junker, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Mountain Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Loveland had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with an 82-75 win over the Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Red Wolves sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Loveland's victory bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Mountain Vista, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.

Mountain Vista strolled past Loveland in their previous meeting back in November of 2017 by a score of 92-75. Does Mountain Vista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Loveland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
