Football Game Preview: Alto Yellowjackets vs. Overton Mustangs

Alto has won three straight games at home, while Overton has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Yellowjackets will welcome the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Alto has given up an average of 27.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Alto's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Lovelady on Friday. They were beaten by the Lions 50-0. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, the Yellowjackets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Overton lost to Lovelady at home by a 44-29 margin last Friday.

Alto will have to keep a close watch on Rylan Holleman and Jacob Osburn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Overton's prior game. Holleman gained 312 total yards and two touchdowns, while Osburn picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Holleman also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Even if they lost, Overton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Lovelady's QB won't forget Gabriel Miller anytime soon given he sacked him three times.

Overton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Alto, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Alto suffered a grim 58-34 defeat to Overton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Yellowjackets, Bryce Still (who rushed for 124 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time.
