Rock Island is 9-1 against Alleman since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rocks will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. Rock Island's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Alleman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Thursday, Rock Island didn't have quite enough to beat Sterling and fell 5-4. The Rocks haven't had much luck with the Golden Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
AJ Lincoln made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Jozie Kerr was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Alleman came into Monday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Galesburg with a sharp 16-4 victory on Monday. The Pioneers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th.
Sofia Diaz was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lyla Possin, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
Alleman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galesburg only managed ten hits.
Alleman's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Rock Island, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Alleman's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Rock Island has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Alleman, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 strikeouts. Will Rock Island keep running through batters, or will the Pioneers buck the trend?
