Softball Recap: Westminster Christian Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Westminster Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves 9-8. The win was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won four contests in a row.

The team relied heavily on Gigi Khoury, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Erin Perez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Westminster Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oxbridge Academy only posted a batting average of .296.

Westminster Christian pushed their record up to 19-7-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Oxbridge Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Westminster Christian will challenge Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Oxbridge Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
