Football Game Preview: McLaughlin Mustangs vs. Marty Indian Braves

McLaughlin is a perfect 4-0 against Marty Indian since October of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Braves at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marty Indian will be up against a hot McLaughlin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to eight. The Mustangs blew past Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Tiospaye Topa 72-22 two weeks ago. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mustangs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Tiospaye Topa are ranked 71st).

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Marty Indian had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-6 win over the Chiefs. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Braves considering their 12-point performance the contest before.

McLaughlin's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Marty Indian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

McLaughlin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Marty Indian in their previous meeting back in September, but they still walked away with an 18-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
