Football Recap: Stone Tomcats vs. East Central Hornets
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gautier, Stone was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 24-6 win over the East Central Hornets. For the Tomcats, this counts as revenge for the 21-20 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kylan Burnett and Ayden Green. Burnett rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries while Green gained 118 total yards and a touchdown.
The win got Stone back to even at 5-5. As for East Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Stone didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-14 victory against Florence on the 15th. East Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
