Preview: Tushka Tigers vs. Coalgate Wildcats
The Tushka Tigers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Coalgate Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Tushka suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 54-34 defeat at the hands of Rock Creek. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tushka in their matchups with Rock Creek: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Tushka saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tucker Willis, who scored six points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Tuff Carey, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Coalgate's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 61-24 loss at the hands of Stonewall. While losing is never fun, Coalgate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Stonewall is ranked 39th).
Tushka's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Coalgate, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
Tushka took their victory against Coalgate when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 37-16. Does Tushka have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coalgate turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
