Basketball Recap: Yorktown Falls Despite Big Games from Jabin Barnes and Nate Tyler

Yorktown's game on Saturday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to the Wapahani Raiders 53-47. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost three in a row.

Yorktown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nate Tyler, who went 7-for-11 en route to 18 points, and Jabin Barnes, who made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points. Thanks to that strong game, Tyler now owns an excellent 41.7% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Austin Kates, who posted five points.

Wapahani got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Andrews out in front who went 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points and five assists. Nate Luce was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Wapahani, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.

Coming up, Yorktown will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Purdue Broad Ripple at 6:00 p.m. As for Wapahani, they will venture away from home to take on Shenandoah at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
