Basketball Recap: West-Oak Comes Up Short

West-Oak lost against Greer Middle College back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The West-Oak Warriors fell 53-43 to the Greer Middle College Blazers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Blazers are ranked 99th).

Despite the loss, West-Oak still got an impressive performance from Brett Winegard, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Trevor White was another key player, putting up ten points.

West-Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Greer Middle College, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West-Oak will take on Daniel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Daniel knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully West-Oak likes a good challenge. As for Greer Middle College, they will head out to challenge Liberty at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
