Football Recap: Malquan Pimentel's Menacing Defense Leads Ashley Ridge over Cane Bay

Ashley Ridge hadn't done well against Cane Bay recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Swamp Foxes enjoyed a cozy 37-23 win over the Cobras. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Swamp Foxes were down 17-0 in the second quarter.

Ashley Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Malquan Pimentel, Stephen Jefferson, and TJ Aiken picked up one apiece. Jefferson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Pimentel got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win got Ashley Ridge back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Ashley Ridge will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Wando at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cane Bay, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on West Ashley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
