Baseball Recap: Franklin Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin duked it out with Lincoln on Wednesday. The Panthers walked away with a 6-2 win over the Tigers. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Hoechst made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Franklin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javier Solis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cesar Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Franklin's record now sits at 6-4. As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin beat Lincoln by a score of 10-5 on Friday.
