There's no place like home for Goddard, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Newton Railroaders 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in September.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (110-102) Goddard actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 16-25, 18-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-13.

Micah Gillespie paced Goddard's offense, picking up 16 kills. Gillespie got some help from Madelyn Wilson and her 25 assists. Wilson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Goddard's victory ended a five-match drought at home and bumped them up to 12-18. As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-26 record this season.

Goddard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Haysville Campus on the 18th. Newton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
