The Seeger Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the South Newton Rebels at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seeger has four straight wins, South Newton has 21 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Seeger not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 17-4). They blew past Parke Heritage 19-7. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Xavier Lang made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Seeger: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macyn Hughes, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. Logan Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Seeger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parke Heritage only managed seven hits.
South Newton couldn't beat Hebron on Saturday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Rebels fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 7-6.
Seeger's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for South Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
Seeger took their win against South Newton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
