Basketball Recap: Spanish Fork Find Success

Spanish Fork's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-55 back in January.

Spanish Fork can attribute much of their success to Brock Jacobson, who posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ben Clayson, who scored ten points.

Maple Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Elijah Liddiard, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points. Nash Jackson was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Spanish Fork's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Maple Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish Fork will head out to challenge Salem Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish Fork is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. As for Maple Mountain, they will venture away from home to square off against Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Maple Mountain likes a good challenge.
