Basketball Recap: Quincy Orioles vs. Bronson Vikings
Quincy lost against Bronson back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Quincy Orioles fell 43-30 to the Bronson Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Orioles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while the Vikings are ranked 103rd).
Leading Bronson to victory were Aubree Calloway and Payton Springstead. Calloway went 7 of 16 en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Springstead went 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds. Calloway is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Hayes, who posted eight points.
Quincy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Bronson, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quincy will square off against Sand Creek at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th. Quincy is facing Sand Creek at the right time seeing as Sand Creek is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bronson, they will venture away from home to take on Brandywine at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th.
