Basketball Recap: Maroa-Forsyth Trojans vs. Williamsville Bullets

Maroa-Forsyth was the 51-46 winner over Williamsville when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Williamsville Bullets on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Bullets are ranked 46th).

Leading Williamsville to victory were Carson Doran and Blake Shoufler. Doran dropped a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Shoufler went 8-for-14 to rack up 19 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Doran a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Saling, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Maroa-Forsyth has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Williamsville, they pushed their record up to 24-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Williamsville likes a good challenge.
