Recap: Opp Bobcats vs. Andalusia Bulldogs
This season hasn't been kind to the Opp Bobcats, who are still winless after their 13th matchup. They were the victim of a tough 50-25 defeat at the hands of Andalusia on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Opp can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while Andalusia is ranked 180th).
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kianna Barnes, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Opp were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of eight games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Opp's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. As for Andalusia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Opp will play host again and welcome Kinston, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Kinston's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Opp's offense will have their work cut out for Opp. As for Andalusia, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Slocomb at 5:30 p.m.
