Softball Game Preview: Mountain Crest Mustangs vs. Hillcrest Huskies

For the second straight game, Mountain Crest will face off against Hillcrest. The Mustangs will take on the Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mountain Crest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Mountain Crest is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Hillcrest. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Morgan Coulam spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Allee Carlston, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Izzy Laughery was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mountain Crest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Mountain Crest's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-16. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10.
