Baseball Recap: Colbert County Has No Trouble Against Danville

Colbert County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Danville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. Colbert County put the hurt on Danville with a sharp 17-5 victory on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly 12 runs.

Wesley Chaney made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Colbert County is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-9 otherwise. Chaney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Dylan Castle and Peyton Gargis did most of the damage at the plate: Castle scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Gargis scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Castle has become a key player for Colbert County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Greyson Owens, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Colbert County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Danville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Colbert County will head out to take on Belgreen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Danville, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Danville Hawks challenge East Lawrence Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
