Baseball Recap: Bellmont Takes a Loss

Bellmont fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Delta on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Matt Bleeke was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, Aidan Zimmerman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Bellmont's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Delta, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellmont will take on New Haven at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Delta, they will challenge Hagerstown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
