Preview: Forest Wildcats vs. Springstead Eagles
Forest is 0-3 against Springstead since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Forest Wildcats are on the road again and plays the Springstead Eagles on February 9th. Forest has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 407 points over their last six matchups.
Forest extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Land O' Lakes. Everything went their way against the Gators as they made off with a 61-35 victory.
Forest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taleah Jones, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Niyah McCoy, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Forest's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Olivia Johns got a bit more time on the court (28 vs. her season average of 14.58). Johns made the most of the opportunity, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
In what's become a running theme this season, Springstead gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-45 margin over Sunlake. The victory was nothing new for Springstead as they're now sitting on 17 straight.
Forest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Springstead, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home.
Forest couldn't quite finish off Springstead in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 46-44. Can Forest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
