Football Game Preview: Reedley Pirates vs. Mt. Whitney Pioneers

Reedley hasn't had much luck against Mt. Whitney recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. Mt. Whitney took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Reedley, who comes in off a win.

Reedley gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They secured a 19-14 W over Selma.

Will Bacon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 189 yards and three scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Richie Badilla, who rushed for 120 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Reedley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Whitney lost to Mission Oak on the road by a 34-18 margin two weeks ago. The Pioneers have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Reedley will have to contain Kayden Silvas as he made an impact in Mt. Whitney's last game. He rushed for 117 yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Mt. Whitney's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Zues Jarmillo was especially locked on to Mission Oak's QB and sacked him twice.

Reedley's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mt. Whitney, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
