Basketball Recap: Marcis Ponder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Oaks Academy over DNA Prep Academy

On Saturday, the West Oaks Academy Flame came up short against the DNA Prep Academy Nobles and fell 80-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (67), the Flame still had to take the loss.

Several Flame players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marcis Ponder, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ponder is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Willie Burnett III, who posted 16 points and six boards.

West Oaks Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for DNA Prep Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

West Oaks Academy will square off against The Rock National at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Oaks Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups. DNA Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
