Basketball Game Preview: Portland Panthers vs. Heritage Mountaineers

The Portland Panthers will face off against the Heritage Mountaineers on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Portland sitting on seven straight wins and Heritage on nine.

Portland will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Creek Wood, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Portland enjoyed a cozy 54-40 victory over Creek Wood on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Heritage didn't have too much trouble with Livingston Academy on Saturday as they won 71-56. Given the Mountaineers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Wildcats are ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Heritage's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 25-10.
