Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Toros vs. Dobson Mustangs

Mountain View is a perfect 10-0 against Dobson since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Mountain View will head out to challenge Dobson at 3:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain View has four straight wins, Dobson has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mountain View hadn't beaten Chandler on the road since March 1, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Mountain View walked away with a 6-2 victory over Chandler.

Justice Yanke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain View is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Beckham Barney, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kooper Klein was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Dobson fell victim to Red Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to the Mountain Lions.

Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Mountain View, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Mountain View took their victory against Dobson when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-7. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Dobson has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
