Basketball Recap: Conant Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Monadnock

After losing to Monadnock the last time they met, Conant decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Conant Orioles snuck past the Monadnock Huskies with a 50-44 victory on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Orioles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Hampshire basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Huskies are ranked tenth).

Conant is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Monadnock, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conant will challenge Fall Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fall Mountain's defense has only allowed 26.2 points per game this season, so Conant's offense will have their work cut out for them. Monadnock has already played their next match (against Hopkinton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
