Softball Game Preview: Skyridge Falcons vs. Springville Red Devils

The Skyridge Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Springville Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Skyridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Lehi hit Skyridge with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons came up short against the Pioneers, falling 9-0. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Springville came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Hawks as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Brooklynn Richardson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allyx Haveron, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaz Ciliezar, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Skyridge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Springville, their record now sits at 12-5.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Skyridge hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs.
