Basketball Recap: Desmet Falls to Deubrook in First Game of Season

DeSmet unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Deubrook Dolphins on Friday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Dolphins from their previous meeting back in February.

Deubrook was led to victory by Kylee Johnson and Matte Bauman. Johnson went 7 of 16 en route to 17 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Bauman went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mataya Gouws, who posted nine points.

DeSmet will be playing in front of their home fans against Wolsey-Wessington at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Deubrook, they will venture away from home to square off against Deuel at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
