Softball Game Preview: Plainview Bulldogs vs. Monterey Plainsmen

Plainview is 0-9-1 against Monterey since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Plainview Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Monterey Plainsmen at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Plainview is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Eastwood. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since February 24, 2024.

Alani Trevino and Jakhai Gomez did some serious damage despite the final result: Trevino scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Gomez scored a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, Gomez posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Amberlyn Castillo also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Monterey came up short against Walnut Grove on Saturday, falling 11-3. The Plainsmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Plainview, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Plainview might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Monterey in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Plainview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
