Baseball Recap: Grenada Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Grenada ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Center Hill Mustangs. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chargers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Grenada got a great performance from Carson Renfro as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Renfro has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hayden Lee was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAndre Rimmer, who went 1-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Grenada kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Center Hill only managed seven hits.

Grenada has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Center Hill, their record is now 10-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grenada will host Saltillo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Center Hill, they will welcome Oxford at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
