Basketball Recap: Timberlake Christian Takes a Loss

Timberlake Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 42-31 to the Temple Christian Crusaders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-39 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Timberlake Christian still got an impressive performance from Sawyer Epps, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. That was a full 38.7% of Timberlake Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Jonathan Dowd was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Temple Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jace Reno, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Reno has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Gifford, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Timberlake Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Temple Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Timberlake Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-37 loss against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy on the 3rd. As for Temple Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 44-29 win against Faith Christian on the 3rd.
