            Softball Recap: Ventura Cougars vs. St. Bonaventure Seraphs        
        
		
        
        
            Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Ventura). They put the hurt on the St. Bonaventure Seraphs with a sharp  13-1 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cougars with their most commanding win of the  season.
 Jessie Sebeck made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off   seven  hits. She has been consistent  recently: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run any time she's  pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with two  RBI and one  double. Those  RBI were  her first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Brooklynn Bishop and  Makayla Halley did most of the damage at the plate:  Bishop  scored two  runs while going 2-for-2, while  Halley  scored a  run while going 2-for-4. What's more,  Halley posted two  hits, the most she's  had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Zayra Landeros, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Ventura  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Bonaventure only posted  an  OBP of  .364.

Ventura pushed their record up to 3-1 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs over those games. As for St. Bonaventure, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
 Looking ahead, Ventura will be playing in front of their home fans against Faith Baptist  at 3:15  p.m.  on Monday. Ventura's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5  runs per game  this season, so Faith Baptist's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Bonaventure, they will venture away from home to  take on Rio Mesa  at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. St. Bonaventure is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8  runs per game  this season.
