Softball Game Preview: Largo Packers vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles

The Largo Packers are taking a road trip to challenge the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Largo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

While Largo's victory against Hollins wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Largo came out on top in a nail-biter against Hollins on Thursday, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Packers have posted since February 18th.

Laila Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miranda Rollins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mia Kabakov was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Largo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hollins struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian came up short against Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday, falling 19-4.

Largo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Indian Rocks Christian's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything went Largo's way against Indian Rocks Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Largo made off with a 13-3 win. Will Largo repeat their success, or does Indian Rocks Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
