The Livermore Cowboys will head out to challenge the Granada Matadors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Livermore will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Tuesday, Livermore got the win against Dougherty Valley by a conclusive 12-2. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Kaci Norton tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.
On the hitting side, Sophia Gerochi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Laine Macosky, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run.
Livermore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Granada owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Monte Vista.
Granada also got a great performance from Ella Vonbergen as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Vonbergen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Delaney Aumua, who fired off three home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Maddie Bittman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Livermore's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Granada, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Livermore hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Granada struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
