Softball Recap: McGill-Toolen Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when McGill-Toolen and UMS-Wright Prep meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets came up short against the UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs, falling 13-2. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

McGill-Toolen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Nabors, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Jaleah Moore also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, McGill-Toolen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.

McGill-Toolen's loss dropped their record down to 0-6-1. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McGill-Toolen will square off against Spanish Fort at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. McGill-Toolen has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they will face off against LeFlore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. UMS-Wright Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
